I
like to save time in the kitchen. If it takes me one
hour to prepare a dish, I look for ways to reduce my
food preparation and cooking time by one minute here
or two minutes there. You'd be surprised how these minutes
add up. If I can cook that dish in 55 minutes, I have
5 more minutes to devote to other endeavors. I do love
to prepare a dish, but I am happiest when I can do it
efficiently.
In
today's kitchen there are lots of ways to save time.
We are all familiar with major appliances like dishwashers,
icemakers, and microwave ovens but are you familiar
with the hundreds of smaller time-saving appliances
that are being manufactured and marketed with your home
kitchen in mind? I call them kitchen gadgets or just
gadgets.
Nowadays
there are gadgets to help with almost every conceivable
food preparation activity. That's a lot of opportunity
to save time in the kitchen. This page is dedicated
to gadgets. From time to time I will select one or more
of these time-saving devices and highlight its features.
Visit this page often for my latest gadget showcase.
If
you like to multi-task, a wireless thermometer can prevent
overcooking the main dish. The day I began using a wireless
thermometer in my outdoor grilling was a turning point
in the quality of my cooking.

They're
not kidding about this being great for cutting potatoes.
I have also had a blast using it on zucchini, squash,
and apples. I learned early on to cut sweet potatoes
into pieces that would feed easily through the cutter.

I
always get a lot of compliments when I bring the homemade
bread to a gathering. Making bread is a breeze with
my bread machine.
